There has never been
absolutely nothing.

By “nothing,” I don’t mean empty space, darkness, or a vacuum. Those are all something. Space has dimensions. A vacuum has physical properties. Darkness describes the absence of visible light. Even a field of possibilities is not nothing.

Absolute nothing is difficult even to imagine.

No space. No time. No matter. No energy. No physical laws. No quantum foam. No observer. Not even the concept of zero. If that were ever the whole story, what could interrupt it?

Then comes the second statement: things exist. Look around. You can call experience an illusion, but an illusion still requires a mind to experience it. However strange reality may be, there is not nothing.

This is where the questions begin.

If from nothing comes nothing, and things exist, then there has never been absolutely nothing. That does not by itself prove every claim about God, Christianity, or Jesus. It gives us somewhere honest to begin.

If this is true, it raises a question. We’re here, right? So what the heck happened? What — or maybe who — has always existed?

Is matter fundamental? Is mind? Is meaning something we invent, or something we discover? Could reality be personal? And what would change if Jesus was telling the truth?

Those questions are not a trap. They are the conversation.
